Leaving It All Behind.
The eight cups are nicely stacked and organized as the man leaves them to venture on a new adventure. It’s often in the dark night of the soul when the path ahead becomes clearest. We have all known the stories of a person leaving a successful career in the rearview mirror. I was someone who chose a new path several times in my life. I knew an attorney whose both parents were lawyers, and it was a foregone conclusion that she would follow their lead and become a lawyer too. However, even though she was a success in her career, it did not bring her joy and fulfillment — she felt trapped by all her responsibilities. There was a popular television show in the sixties on this very theme called Green Acres. The star Eddie Albert left the big city to become a farmer. We are blessed in this day of opportunity to be able to live many lifetimes in one body. I view this card in that light, although many take the darker view. What do you think? Throughout our lives we make sacrifices,
giving a little here, giving in a little bit there.
But one day, when our life’s course dead-ends,
we have the choice to make the biggest sacrifice of all,
to leave ourselves behind to venture onto a new life.
Or keep going over the same old thing.
