The wheel slowly turns
to bring all things to an end,
so that the “new” can have a beginning.
It is the final exam
for which you must cram.
All creatures of the heavens and of the earth
are subject to the test,
and they must do their best.
As wisdom descends,
Anubis, god of the lower realms
gets his chance to evolve,
Waiting for the wheel to revolve;
and above them all,
straight and tall,
rests the sphinx.
She is the guardian of truth, Riddler and teaser.
You must have the answers that please her.
It’s ultimately fair
to those who get past,
for they must be through with their trials, at last.
