Michelangelo Gets A Contract To Paint A Ceiling In Some Old Church.
Ever worked on a commission basis? Before I became a business owner I had many years of working on a percentage of the take. I hated the idea of a salary and having to beg for a raise. The most successful people I’ve met in life were people who were judged by their skills and output. That is what I envision here in my poem. What do you see?
The artist has his commission,
Michelangelo his Sistine Chapel.
The worker is worthy of his hire.
Creativity always has a market
with those who wish to beautify.
The capitalist sponsors the painter
who brightens an otherwise drab world.
The dream house is being built;
whether house of God,
or the house in the country.
