Dreams Ascending into the Netherworld
This card has so many misinterpretations, like “heartache and sorrow.” I told you the Swords would be tricky, and you can’t go by gut reactions when we are dealing with the mind. We never have that reaction on Valentine’s Day when we see a heart pierced by Cupid’s arrow; instead, we think of that as a symbol of new love or being struck by romance. So these swords represent thoughts or ideas embedded within the seat of desire. The cloudy skies represent our dark unknown—the future. The lines can be rain or lines of motion from the left side, which is the passive side. I see this in light of the biblical quote from Ecclesiastes 11:1: “Cast your bread upon the waters,” which means taking a leap of faith. Hope is all about taking your thoughts and embedding them into your passion. The blueprint is there; now go and build your dreams. I love this image, as this is what every person does who takes a risk on the unknown because they believe their vision can be manifested. It’s why I chose this card for my tattoo, and my poem illustrates this. I hope it changes the way you view this dramatic suit of the mind.
