Lizard King, I am.
Now we start with our final suit, Wands, which are ruled by the element of fire. Fire stands for creative energy, which links us to the divine, our spiritual fire. Our King is an Aries, first sign in the zodiac. On his throne we see two symbols: first is the lion, which is a symbol of his regal nature and authority to rule, and secondly a fire salamander forming a circle by biting its tail. The fire salamander mythically lived in the flames of a fire and was the source of the flames dancing in a fire that never repeated a pattern. You could see early man sitting around a campfire, like we do now with our huge HD TVs, being entertained by watching the flames dance. This is where fire, with its light and heat, gets its reputation as a gift from the gods; it can cook our food and heat our houses, yet it is a force that can bring destruction as well. The story of Prometheus, who stole fire from Mount Olympus, gives credence to its divine nature. In the bottom corner we see a lizard, kin to the salamander, who seemingly stands guard with the king. Lizards are known to live in the hottest deserts, walk across the burning sands, and seemingly live without moisture. They also have the ability to regenerate a lost tail, which is a great defensive tactic for a totem animal. Aries are known for their confidence, with the astrological motto of “I am.” Enjoy my poem, and comments are invited as always.

first to us all,
he rides his ambition through life.
Fortifying himself by starting it all,
in the front wave of the battle and strife.
Coming out of it all smelling like a rose,
he always gains what he is after.
Finally able now to strike a royal pose,
with his trophies all hung from the rafters.
