A Diligent Sentry

A man in a red tunic stands holding a staff in a forest of tall trees during sunset. The sky is a gradient of orange and yellow with clouds, and mountains can be seen in the background.

The world seems to have it out for the spiritual warrior. Your strength and conviction is tested by the evening newscast, the internet, crime in the streets, the sanctity of your home and family. You have your bruised ego, like the bandage our warrior wears like a crown of thorns. It is tested by naysayers and sometimes even people who you thought shared your belief system. How many wars have been fought over religion and the right to pray in a certain way or to a particular God? It didn’t just happen during the crusades, it was happening since before Joshua blew a sweet note in Jericho. Even Cain smote down Abel over religious jealousy and envy of divine blessings. It takes strength to hold to your belief system when the Sun is shining, easy to fall on your knees and pray when the wind is howling. Peter denied Jesus three times before the dawn when things first were getting difficult, and he knew him personally not just by rumor. My poem is a whimsical declaration of using historical events to illustrate my points. My real mission is for you to examine your own belief system and determine the quality of your own light you subscribe to. Does it and can it withstand even your own doubts? Who cares if it’s strong enough to die for, life is cheap! Is it strong enough for you to go against your parents’ belief system? Is it strong enough for you to say no to the temptations of greed, lust and envy? If I help you take a moral and spiritual inventory, it’s been worthwhile and I would love to hear about it in your comments.

Bruised, battered, beaten,
yet defiant and undefeated.
Holding off the Indians,
until the cavalry arrives.
He’s 300 Spartans,
fighting off a Persian nation.
He’s hunger,
keeping the wolves from the door.
Samson in his rage,
taking revenge against the Philistines.
He’s the possessor,
guarding his own.
He’s the ongoing struggle for survival.

After reflecting over the past few weeks, I’ve chosen to shift away from offering regular Tarot readings so I can step into a new, more expansive chapter of my work. With so many readers available today, including many who offer their services for free, I see this as the perfect moment to honor the depth of my own experience and thousands of readings by focusing it in a new direction. While I may still be available for select clients, I’m now excited to devote my energy to real-time classes and speaking engagements. My intention is to help train the teachers of tomorrow by sharing my unique wisdom in a more direct and empowering way. I’m happy to travel anywhere, so if you’re affiliated with a center of esoteric learning and can gather a sincere group of seekers, let’s talk and explore how we might create something powerful together. I’m seeking collaborative partners on the path, not followers.
